The thermal fuse shuts down the dryer when it starts to overheat. Brands: Whirlpool Estate KitchenAid Roper Maytag Admiral Amana Speed Queen Jenn-Air Magic Chef Crosley Caloric Glenwood Hardwick Menumaster Modern Maid Montgomery Wards Norge JC Penney Wards Sears Kenmore

This 2 terminal thermal fuse is a disposable, one time fuse. If the dryer overheats, this device stops the flow of electricity to the heat source and/or the entire dryer.
It is located on the blower housing and cannot be reset.
If there is no continuity between the fuse, it is blown and needs to be replaced. Replace if open (no continuity between terminals).
The thermal fuse shuts down the dryer when it starts to overheat.
The next time you try to start the dryer, the motor won't run even though the dryer has power.
The fuse is designed to prevent a fire by cutting the power to the heating element if it detects too high a temperature.
The thermal fuse is not resettable, and the heating element will not function until you install a new thermal fuse.

The most common cause for overheating is a vent tube clogged with lint, a birds nest or other debris.
